A lot of us journalists had been speculating about what the new British Prime Minister Gordon Brown would say during his first visit at Camp David. Would he announce while standing next to George Bush that he would pull British troops out of Iraq? It would have take a lot of political guts to do [...]

Obama vs Hillary: good old fight – Obama contre Hillary: un bon vieux duel
©Drudge Report
It all started Monday with a YouTube question. Barack Obama was asked if he would like to start speaking with such polarizing figures as Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez or even with Cuban Leader Fidel Castro. Obama said he would (his advisers should just warn him that Chavez said he would expel from Venezuela any [...]

Last song for Lonnie Johnson – Dernière chanson pour Lonnie Johnson
Since I did the story on the death row radio for Swiss Public Radio, people coming to tpinews.com have been very interested in death penalty issues. I recently got an email from France. A lady asked me to transfer to KDOL radio her request. She wanted to dedicate “The Rose” from Bette Middler to [...]

YouTube Politics, old answers
I am writing this post while watching the Democratic debate in Charleston, South Carolina. The questions posted on YouTube were interesting, witty and to the point. There was oneabout Darfur. The (good) question was asked from a refugee camp. The answers from the candidates were nothing revolutionary. We learnt that Bill Richardson and Joe Biden [...]

Henry Waxman is the first Representative I interviewed. It was in 2001, a year before I was named US Correspondent for 24heures and Tribune de Genève. I had requested an interview with him because he was already going after George Bush back then.
In the next couple of months, you will hear a lot about Hillary [...]

An all-nighter in the Senate, and what? – Une séance nocturne au Sénat et quoi d’autre?
US Senators did not sleep much last night as they debated all night long a troop withdrawal from Iraq. But did they accomplish anything? Democrats got the nice photo-op they were looking for. They actually appear to be trying to do something and put Republicans on the defensive. If you are tired to hear the [...]

The robber appears in court using crutches only to see his bail doubled – Caution doublée pour l’homme estropié qui s’est présenté au tribunal
You might remember my previous post about the guy , who tried to steal copper in the house of a Texas Representative in Houston. The democratic lawmaker spotted him and shot him in the leg after the robber threw a pocketknife at him. The story gets funnier. Bruce Anthony Toler, 55, appeared in court last [...]
